Moroccan Agriculture Ministry confirmed yesterday the absence of A-H5 and H7 bird flu viruses in the country, based on results of tests carried out in France.
"Laboratory tests of samples analyzed in France at the international cooperation center laboratories of agricultural research for development, as well as at the national laboratories, were negative for A-H5 and H7 bird flu viruses," the ministry said in a statement.
The results were based on a total of 486 samples extracted from 243 migratory birds from humid zones in MorocCo
The analyses fell within the framework of technical cooperation between the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) , Maghreb countries and Egypt concerning surveillance of bird flu in humid zones.
Moroccan veterinary services remain vigilant within the context of national surveillance and are closely monitoring the national sanitary situation both in poultry farming and in humid zones, according to the ministry.
